Patti Avin is the Owner/Operator for Tutor Doctor Rhode Island. She moved to Rhode Island from Long Island to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She was drawn to Tutor Doctor's commitment and values to help students attain their goals and build self-confidence.
Patti believes that her one-on-one in-home tutoring is the most beneficial method to maximize results. Parents also have one less event to coordinate in their busy lives and her tutoring service saves them time while coordinating with their schedule and availability .
Her method begins with the unique needs of each student. During Tutor Doctor's free in-home consultation, Patti takes the time to understand the student's areas of concern, their needs, goals, learning style and ability. Following the consultation we find the 'magical match' with the most suitable tutor who will work best with the student.
Patti's vision is to continue building a business that is known for quality and success while helping students of all grades reach their full potential. She strongly believes in Tutor Doctor's founder John Hooi's philosophy, It's one thing to make a dollar and another to make a difference.

About 10 years ago, we had a simple idea for tutoring services and a desire to make a difference. We wondered why parents had to adjust their family's busy schedules and drive half way across town just to put their child in another classroom with more kids. When, in fact, it was the classroom experience that their child was struggling with in the first place. We wondered
- What if a tutor could come directly to the child's home to deliver tutoring services instead of fragmenting a family's precious time together by forcing parents to act as 'taxi drivers'
- What if there was flexibility in the tutor's schedule so that tutoring service time slots could be scheduled to accommodate for a family's busy schedule
- What if a struggling child could get one-on-one attention instead of being limited to the 'one-to-many' teaching models used by most extra-curricular learning centers
- What if a tutor could develop a personalized program by working with the child's existing homework and school curriculum instead of loading more standard textbook work on an already overwhelmed child
